In 2011, the world received one of the most shocking news of the 21st century. During the night of the 2nd day of May, Osama bin Laden was finally found and executed by the United States army, which searched for him during almost ten years, right after the 9/11/2001. One of the responses for this, the United Nations Security Council was called for a emergency meeting to discuss what could be the results of this unexpected news to the world and, especially, to think ahead of Al-Qaeda and others terrorists organizations, bearing in mind that the Arabic world is also being the place of a new social, political and very troubled movement, the so called “Arab spring.”
That’s why, for the TEMAS 15 – Estados Unidos we decided to simulate two of the most important meetings of the Council in this decade, both happening in the aftermath of Laden’s death and in the awake of the Arab Spring, two events capable of changing the whole configuration/display of the Arabic world and the global order as was known. Is your responsibility as a duty of one of the Council members, to discuss these topics keeping in mind that you have the capability to change the course of contemporary history and its future with the position that you may assume on these meetings.
